Art community
Digital space for creators who don’t need fancy tools, just a BIC pen and a vision.
This project started with a single constraint: What if the entire platform was dedicated to artists who create with only one tool - a regular BIC pen?
The idea came to life during the Digital Designer course as a personal design exploration. I wanted to see how far I could push minimalist, editorial-style design without overshadowing the work it was meant to showcase. The result? A quiet digital gallery that gives analog art the space and clarity it deserves.

💡 The Idea
The core concept was simple: a digital home for BIC-only art. Curated, clean, and accessible.
I imagined this platform as a blend of online portfolio, inspiration archive, and community gallery. No distractions, no complex navigation - just grid layouts, whitespace, and a strong focus on the artwork.
The site’s design leaned into editorial vibes:
Structured typography
Intentionally limited color palette
Balanced tension between analog texture and digital clarity
🛠️ The Process
I started this project the way I always do - by understanding the space I was designing for. I dove into niche creative platforms, browsing through artist portfolios, small exhibition websites, and curated archives, looking for what made them feel honest and focused.
UX foundations: researched niche creative platforms, mapped flows, and defined key views like artist profiles and gallery pages
Designed clean, minimal architecture that supports browsing and discovery without distractions
Built full user flows and layouts in Figma, with mobile-first logic
Focused the UI around a single muted color and structured grid layouts to let the artwork lead
Prioritized clarity, whitespace, and slow visual rhythm
🎨 Visual Direction
The UI uses neutral backgrounds, subtle typography and generous spacing to let the art breathe.
I avoided flashy elements, instead building:
Clear grid systems
Simple navigation
Highlight-based galleries over carousels or animation
The only thing that stands out? The work itself… As it should.
🌟 What I’m Proud Of
Designing the entire UX and UI flow from scratch
Creating a quiet, minimal space that elevates the art instead of overshadowing it
Limiting the UI to a single muted color letting art become a design strength
🎁 Outcome
This project reminded me how important restraint is in design.
It taught me how to design for content, not ego and to respect the medium being presented.
BIC Pen Artist Platform was one of my favorite exercises in designing for others without inserting too much of myself. And that’s sometimes the best kind of challenge.
